Bamboo jersey is beautifully soft and drapey, making it an excellent, stretchy fabric for sewing basic wardrobe pieces like t-shirts, camisoles, turtlenecks, flowy tops, and even underwear. The knit has a slight sheen and feels extremely comfortable against the skin.
From a sustainability perspective, bamboo is a great raw material. It grows rapidly and prolifically without the need for fertilizers. Due to its natural antibacterial properties, there's no necessity for pesticides. Bamboo's complex root system allows for self-regeneration, eliminating the need for replanting after harvest. Bamboo fibers are also more resilient against bacterial growth, up to 60% more than cotton.
It's worth noting that bamboo jersey may experience a maximum residual shrinkage of 4%. Washing at lower temperatures and avoiding the use of a tumble dryer is recommended.
